Manganese testing in Ethiopia
Manganese causes black staining and deposits in pipework, often alongside iron. It is easy to blame the wrong metal, because the symptoms overlap and the treatment does not. Palintest measures manganese photometrically on the same instrument used for iron.
Why it matters in Ethiopia
Where iron is present manganese is usually worth testing too, because a filter sized for iron alone will not necessarily hold manganese back. Running both tests before specifying treatment avoids buying the wrong unit.
